Iota Phi Lambda
Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., is a national business and professional sorority,
founded on June 1, 1929, by Mrs. Lola M. Parker. Iota Phi Lambda seeks to:
 | | unite in a sisterhood qualified business and professional women in order to |
| | enhance and improve the status of women in our highly complex, competitive business and professional world;
|
 | | promote increase interest in the broad field of business education among high |
| | school and college young women through planned programs and scholarships;
|
 | | encourage the development of personal goals and leadership potential through |
| | the provision of educational opportunities; and
|
 | | establish and promote civic and social service activities for youth and adults. |

Southwestern Region
In August 1946, at the 8th National Convention in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, the
Southwestern Region was established and Mrs. L. E. Coleman Lockhart was elected our
first Regional Director. By 1958, the Southwestern Region consisted of the following
chapters with Psi being the oldest Chapter in the Region:

The Southwestern Region has hosted seven National
Conventions, had sixteen Regional Directors, and two
National Presidents. We are comprised of many
talented and multifaceted business women who carry
out the programs and projects of Iota Phi Lambda with
commitment and dedication.
About the...
Southwestern Region
Each chapter of the Southwestern Region is committed to the programs and
projects of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority. Our programs are Business Month, American
Education Week, Correspondence Week, Black History Month, and Founder's Day.
Our projects are Outstanding Woman of the Year - Lola M. Parker Award,
Outstanding Soror of the Year - Mahalia S. Evans Award, Tutorial, Career
Exploration, Toys "U" Can't Return, Scholarships, and Future Iota Leaders (FILS).
The Southwestern Region has the honor of having four National Outstanding
Sorors of the Year, Soror Marion D. Johnson - Alpha Pi, 1983; Soror Charlotte D.
Berry - Psi, 1999; Soror Talmadge M. Jacques - Psi, 2001; and Soror Paulette M.
Hooper - Alpha Kappa, 2005.
Chapters in the Southwestern Region have auxiliaries, the Pelati and the Men of
Iota. The Pelati are woman who are interested in the promoting the ideals of the
Sorority. The Men of Iota are the husbands or significant others of Sorors and Pelati.
The Southwestern Region continues to provide scholarships to qualified graduating
high school seniors that plan to major in the field of business. To apply for our
